Checkerboards and Pinwheels

This afternoon I made checkerboard and pinwheel cookies. I followed the recipe from Taste of Home with a few modifications:

I used half of the recipe because I didn't need 80 cookies. I also used chocolate in both cookies and for the green portion of the pinwheels, I added about 4 tsp of peppermint powder that I got from grinding some powdery peppermints with a mortar and pestle. It's all so delicious!
