Catch-up?

I have not been consistently updating this page as much as I used to, I'll admit to that. I will also admit that it's not because RL has become utterly crazy, because it hasn't. I have two excuses though:

1) I've been reading novels like a crazy person (thank you Kindle, for the easy access to many books), trying to accomplish my Goodreads goal for the year.
Sure, I'm like 7 or 8 books ahead, but I plan ahead more than the average person, and I know that this summer vacation is a busy one since I have to get my grad student work done (it's a black cloud with lightning storms of guilt) which I have been neglecting (with valid excuses, might I add) as of late.
Priorities, priorities, I know.

2) My life is not that interesting. I haven't been on any hikes since I last mentioned a hike on here, and that was my main source of shutterbug postings. The most interesting thing that happened to me lately, albeit a bit on the creepy side, was falling asleep on the bus on the way home and having the driver wake me up. I woke up confuffled and saw the airport so I came out. It was only then I realised that I came off at the wrong terminal (there are two, see, and one is near home while the other is... not) and had to hire a taxi home. This was not the creepy part. It was when I was in between consciousness on another bus home another day and the driver made it a point to say he saw me falling asleep when I was getting off. Um... they talk? That day some dude also came to sit next to me on an otherwise empty bus and started chatting me up. Um... so you see, nothing to go, OMG I HAVE TO POST MY DAY BECAUSE MY LIFE IS SO AWESOME about.

Another case in point, I have FINALLY organised my massive collection of music on my computer (that I hope to holy heck doesn't crash since one of the RAM sticks are bad and we can't figure out which since it is shy to the IT fix-it guy, a.k.a. Kedar). iTunes tells me that it's 31 gigs. I know that's a lot simply because it is 10 times more than the hard drive of my first computer. Predictably, I don't actually know all of those songs, or even half of them (a consequence of loading Indie Rock Playlists for each month) and there are some duplicates. I know this isn't really news, but it is testament to how mundane my life is.

Krystal and I started exercising lately. Well, last Tuesday to be exact. I got dressed to go running walking up a nearby hill with her after school and some stupid ignoranamus followed me out the gate calling my name on repeat and when I told him to leave me alone, he then repeated, 'Leave me alone, (insert lout's name here). Such a douche-nozzle. Anyhow, Krys and I went, my legs nearly came off, her lungs nearly exploded, and then we did the trek down. And survived with our dignities semi-intact.
On Thursday, we went swimming. I am happy to say that this is the first time in YEARS that I have been able to swim without feeling my lungs and my brain die slowly. I swallowed some water and did half the amt of laps than her (and that was cause we started doing them together before I told her to go so she could get a real workout and not splash around with me) BUT THAT WAS OKAY because I didn't ache in strange places the next day. I was quite proud of my minor accomplishment.

Lately I've been trying to make cheesecakes. Naturally, I have to finish one before I make another, and each time is better than the last. Unfortunately, I have to up my exercise regime because I'm getting too damn fat on cheesecake (which for me, are slightly cheese flavoured egg cakes until I can get the recipe right). I'm too much of a silly scientist to follow most recipes verbatim, and this one was the rare exception. And it still didn't taste like cheese. So I'm back to experimenting. I shall post pictures when I eventually get it right.

So that's it for now - I've run out of randomness to say.
