Happy Earth Day!

Yesterday when I logged onto the net, I noticed the Google sign changed. It was half green with a little waterfall, and half blue with sea plants and fish. Too cute. Dennis Hwang is totally awesome. Well today, April 22nd is Earth Day, a day to encourage awareness and appreciation for the environment. Over the last 20 years, more emphasis has been placed on preserving the environment and as such, many 'green' initiatives have come into play. For an individual, these include simple things such as changing all the light bulbs in the house from incandescent to fluorescent - fluorescents use less energy, need to change less frequently and are actually brighter - to much more elaborate like purchasing a hybrid vehicle. Trees are planted and beaches are cleaned.
Recycling is encouraged. The American Chemistry Society (of which I am a member) hosts events geared at supporting the environment and environmental issues. Even Nickelodeon is doing something. I was looking to see if there was anything organised in Trinidad and not surprisingly, I could find none. Well, Happy Earth Day!
